What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic was founded in 1895 as a holistic healing method. Its goal has always been to create health by optimizing nervous system function through spinal correction. By use of chiropractic techniques we aim to detect and correct the cause of the problem.

What is the nervous system?

The nervous system consists of following components:

Why do chiropractors correct the spine?

The skull protects the brain and the spine encases and protects the spinal cord. Not only does the spine offer a protective function to the nervous system, it also acts to stimulate the nervous system. This stimulation is provided through correct movement patterns of the spine.

Did you know that:

  • The body is a self-healing mechanism?
  • The healing process in the body is orchestrated through the nervous system?
  • The spine protects and stimulates the nervous system (spinal cord)?
  • When the vertebrae in the spine get ‘stuck’, it disturbs the normal function of the nervous system which can interrupt the healing process? This is described in chiropractic terms as the ‘vertebral subluxation complex’.
  • Chiropractors are the only people trained in localising and correcting this vertebral subluxation complex?

How do we correct this ‘vertebral subluxation complex’?

The goal is to optimize the spine and nervous system. To do that we use very specific ‘adjustments’ that are done by hand. Adjusting the spine stimulates wellbeing and can slow down degenerative processes in the joints. On this 3D Spine Simulator you can see how the spine affects all other organs and nerves.
